YTFastYouTube Music, native and fast
A desktop app for YouTube Music on Windows and Mac. It idles at 0% CPU, uses less than 200 MB of memory, and starts songs in about a second.
For YouTube Music Premium accounts, on Windows and on Macs with Apple Silicon.
Fast
Songs start in about a second. The song under your pointer and the top search result are made ready ahead of time, so they start at once.
Light
YTFast idles at 0% CPU and uses less than 200 MB of memory. While paused, it uses no CPU at all.
All of YouTube Music, minus video
Home, Explore, Library, search, albums, artists, playlists and moods, on its own screens instead of a web page.
Lyrics that follow the song
The line being sung is lit. Click any line to jump there. The player page takes its colours from the song's cover.
Your library
Like songs, save albums and playlists, subscribe to artists, and make, rename and edit your own playlists.
Keyboard and media keys
Shortcuts for play, seek, volume and search. Your keyboard's media keys and your computer's own media controls work too.
Your own sign-in
YTFast uses the YouTube Music sign-in already in your browser. It stays on your computer and is only ever sent to YouTube.
Your mixes keep learning
Plays are reported to YouTube as they are on the website, so History, Home and your mixes stay up to date.
Source on GitHub
Written in Rust on fastframe, the foundation Spotifast is built on. The code is public for anyone to read.
Why a separate app?
YouTube Music on a computer is a web page, and a web page uses the CPU and memory of a browser even when all it does is play a song. YTFast draws its own screens and plays the audio itself. It aims to open in under a second and to cost your computer almost nothing while it runs.
Where things stand
YTFast is at its third version, with builds for Windows and Mac on GitHub. It is early: the newest build renews its sign-in by itself and has a new look, and both are still being tested with real accounts. See the download page for how to get it.
Free to build, $29 ready-made
YTFast is free if you build and run it yourself from GitHub. YTFast Pro costs $29 once and adds ready-made installers, automatic updates, priority email support, and early access to new features.
Need an app like this?
YTFast is also a demonstration. We build desktop apps in Rust that open at once, idle at 0% CPU, and stay small in memory, and we can build one around what your team needs.
Standing on Spotifast
YTFast builds on fastframe and learns from Spotifast, both by Carmine Paolino. If you want the same idea for Spotify, use Spotifast.
